2017 Cadillac Escalade
The latest slick looking stout Cadillac Escalade 4WD differs from its competitors with distinctive Cadillac design features such as blade-style vertical head-lights, LED taillights, and integrated side steps that unfold when doors open.
Sophisticated, versatile and comfortable is the best way of describing the new Cadillac Escalade. Because of its size one accurately expects it to have a heavy drive, hesitant to accelerate and brake, but very powerful. The steel body-on-frame design is not in line with the latest weight-reduction efforts of general Motors, but the Escalade does feature their Magnetic Ride Control. The magnetic ride control is an adjustable suspension that senses road conditions and adapts shock absorber firmness very quickly, considered a help for controlling dive, roll, squat and other body motions.
Through having a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, the Escalade is quite fast for a 4WD of its hefty size. A report from Cadillac claims zero-to-96-kph in just less than 6 seconds. It sounds loud as it springs to life and this rumble is emphasized when outside the vehicle.
The new Cadillac Escalade comes with standard rear-wheel drive, and the large 420 horsepower engine makes it easily capable of towing a camper-trailer or a personal watercraft.
Thanks to modern technology, the fuel economy on this vehicle is better than what you would expect it to be. The EPA rates the four-wheel- drive Escalade at 38/51/43 kilometers per liter city/highway combined, which is quite acceptable for its size.
When the door of the Escalade Platinum 4WD is opened, integrated side steps automatically fold out of the lower sills as an aid for climbing up. Inside the cabin you see to what extent Cadillac has gone to for making the Escalade upscale and special. The interior comes with cut- and –sewn stitched leather upholstery, and various indulgent comforts such as massaging front seats for making every ride pleasing and enjoyable. Acoustic front glass, triple-sealed inset doors and Bose Active Noise Cancellation, make the cabin incredibly quiet. Design touches for comfort are the full leather steering wheel and the leather-wrapped instrument panel. Another interior feature is that with the push of a button, the power-folding third row seats disappear to give 121 cubic feet of cargo space.
The rear wiper is invisible and concealed when not in use, as a protection from the elements. Two rows of seats in the new Cadillac Escalade come with climate control for warming the driver and passengers in cold wintry weather, and cooled front seats for keeping driver and passenger refreshed in hot weather.
The new Cadillac Escalade can be seen in British Columbia at Smith Chevrolet Cadillac Ltd. 950 Notre Dame, Kamloops.
